Risk, sustainability, and compliance, made measurable.
NEXUST scores natural-hazard and climate risk for insurers and institutions, measures carbon (Scope 1-3), water, ESG, and circularity for operators, and advises on Digital Product Passport, regulation, and EU funding.
Three lines of work
Risk and hazard analytics
A live platform scoring earthquake, flood, hail, storm, landslide and more across Türkiye for insurers and institutions, extending into early warning, climate scenarios, damage estimation, and air-quality modelling.
In productionCircular economy and sustainability
Carbon accounting (Scope 1-2-3), water footprint, and ESG and circularity reporting for waste-management and recycling operators, built into their operational systems, including CBAM reporting.
Early-stageAdvisory and consultancy
Guidance on regulatory compliance and Digital Product Passport requirements, and support for EU funding, including Horizon Europe applications.
OngoingWe build, own, and license our products
The science, the platform, and the delivery are developed and maintained in-house, so each product evolves with its client.
Ten natural hazards, one underwriting-ready score
One score per location, on one scale, for ten hazards. It is the product in production today; the Solutions page shows what it covers and how it is delivered.
Rigorous by design, defensible by default
Everything we ship has to survive the scrutiny of underwriters, regulators, and reinsurers. So we build it to be transparent from the first model to the final score.
Peer-reviewed methods
Published, reviewed, and used as we describe them, not a black box.
Bias-corrected
A quiet record is not a safe one: sparse data is treated as sparse, never as absence of risk.
Long-horizon
Return periods well beyond the claims record, so the rare event is priced before it happens.
Cloud-native
Runs where the underwriting happens, without a separate system to install or re-key.
Led by three researchers, Prof. Dr. Tayfun Kındap, Prof. Dr. Bestami Özkaya and Dr. Metin Baykara, at İTÜ and İstinye University.

Contact us →Risk analytics, sustainability platforms, and advisory
NEXUST works across three areas: a live natural-hazard and climate risk platform for insurers and institutions, early-stage sustainability platforms for circular-economy operators, and advisory on regulation and EU funding. We tell you plainly where each one stands.
Natural-hazard and climate risk platform
A digital natural-hazard and climate risk-assessment platform that turns whole-country exposure into a clear, underwriting-ready score.
The platform quantifies natural-hazard and extreme-weather exposure across an entire country at the level of an individual location. It was originally developed for and delivered to Türkiye Sigorta as its flagship deployment, and it is built as a configurable solution that can serve any insurance company that needs consistent, location-level natural-hazard risk intelligence.
Who it is for
- Underwriting teams pricing property, agricultural, and catastrophe risk.
- Risk, actuarial, and reinsurance functions needing consistent national, location-level scoring.
- Portfolio managers assessing geographic concentration and accumulation of risk.
39.92°N, 32.85°E
What it does
- Ten natural hazards in one platform, scored on a single comparable 0 to 100 scale.
- A clear score and a 1 to 10 risk zone for every location and hazard, plus an overall composite, so a team can read one number or drill into the drivers.
- Location, province, district, and portfolio scoring, from a single coordinate to an entire book of business.
- Long-horizon estimates of extreme events, so pricing reflects the rare, high-impact events that matter most.
- Plain-language explanations for every location, telling a team why a score is what it is, not just the number.
- Cloud-native delivery that integrates directly with an insurer's systems and workflows.
The hazards it covers
How it works
The science behind the scores, the data they rest on, how gaps and bias are corrected, and how any number can be traced back to its method, is set out on the Technology page.
Why the platform
- One framework, ten hazards, a whole country. A single consistent system instead of stitched-together point solutions.
- Underwriting-native. Scores, zones, and explanations are designed for how risk teams actually decide.
- Transparent and defensible. Every score is grounded in documented, scientific methods.
- Built and owned end-to-end. Science, platform, and delivery are developed and maintained in-house.
- Deployable for any insurer. Proven with a flagship national insurer and configurable for new markets.
Bring the platform to your portfolio
If your team needs consistent, defensible, location-level hazard intelligence, we would welcome the conversation.
Measuring and managing environmental performance
NEXUST helps waste-management and recycling operators measure and manage their environmental performance, with systems for carbon accounting (Scope 1-2-3), water footprint, and ESG and circularity reporting, integrated into operational systems.
What it covers
- Carbon accounting across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Water footprint measured across operations.
- ESG reporting aligned with how operators already report.
- Circularity reporting for material flows, reuse, and recovery.
- Integrated into operational systems, not bolted on as a separate tool.
Where this stands
This work is early-stage and ongoing. We are building it together with waste-management and recycling operators rather than selling a finished product, and we will say so until it is one.
Regulation, Digital Product Passport, and EU funding
NEXUST advises clients on regulatory compliance and Digital Product Passport requirements, and supports them in applying for EU funding, including Horizon Europe projects.
What we help with
- Regulatory compliance advisory for environmental and product rules.
- Digital Product Passport requirements and how to meet them.
- EU funding support, including Horizon Europe applications.
Advisory runs as its own workstream, alongside our platform and sustainability work. It is how we help clients turn regulatory and funding requirements into something workable.
How we keep research-grade work defensible in production
Our products are used to price risk and inform public decisions. That sets a high bar for transparency, and it shapes how we build.
Grounded in authoritative science
Our work is built on decades of authoritative climate and natural-hazard information, and on rigorous, scientifically grounded methods. We combine advanced statistical modelling with validated hazard models, drawing on the disciplines our team has spent careers in: atmospheric science, environmental engineering, and applied mathematics.
We treat peer-reviewed methodology as the baseline, not the aspiration. Where a method has been tested and published, we build on it. Where it has not, we are explicit about the limits of what we can claim.
Real-world hazard data is uneven. Some regions are densely observed, others barely at all, and naive models can mistake a lack of records for a lack of risk. We correct for data gaps and reporting bias so that under-observed regions are scored on their true exposure, not on how much happens to have been recorded there.
We also model the long horizon. The events that most affect an insurer are often the rare, high-impact ones, so our estimates are designed to reflect them rather than only the recent and the routine.
Honest about what the data does and does not say
Every number can be explained and defended
A score is only useful if a team can stand behind it. Our outputs come with plain-language explanations of why a given result is what it is, and every score traces back to documented methods. That makes the work ready for the scrutiny of regulators and reinsurers, not just internal use.
Because we build, own, and maintain the science, the platform, and the delivery in-house, we can answer questions about any layer of the system, and evolve it as a client's needs change.
Built to live inside your systems
Cloud-native
Delivered as software, not as one-off reports, so results stay current and consistent.
Integrates directly
Connects with an insurer's existing systems and workflows rather than asking teams to work somewhere new.
Defensible by design
Documented, traceable methods that hold up to regulatory and reinsurance review.
Maintained over time
Owned end-to-end, so the product keeps improving alongside the science.
We build software that turns environmental data into decisions
NEXUST was founded by three researchers to turn the methods they had spent their careers on into software that clients run inside their own operations.
A technology company grounded in research
Founded October 2025 at İTÜ ARI Teknokent, İstanbul.
Our pattern is to build a platform for a first client, run it in production with them, and then license and configure it for the next. The risk platform followed that path with Türkiye Sigorta, and the sustainability work is following it with ÇATOM.
We serve insurers and public and strategic institutions, work with circular-economy operators, and license our products. Our risk platform is in production today; our sustainability platforms are early-stage, and our advisory runs alongside both. We are deliberate about where each one stands, because credibility is the product.
The team is based in İstanbul and collaborates internationally, combining atmospheric science, environmental engineering, and applied mathematics.
